| The primary mission of the National Institute of Sports Professionals (NISP) is to develop and provide a systematic approach to helping athletes at all levels of competition, and build a nationwide association of professionals trained and certified to counsel athletes in performance, behavior, financial management, and career planning.
Our National Register includes qualified, committed, enthusiastic professionals who are certified and meet our standards and criteria. As a member of our National Register, you will join us in our mission of establishing a rational, broad-based, meaningful system of care for the betterment of all sports, all athletes, and all youths.
The Advisory Board for NISP issues the “Certified Sports Professional” Certificate. The Sports Professional Certificate addresses the need for a national standard of training and education for this area of specialization. Certification requires a state license or employment by an accredited institution and experience in a related field. Certification is renewable every two years. (You must obtain six CEUs in your related field.)
A Diplomate requires advance training and experience in working with athletes. Diplomate status is renewable every two years. (You must obtain six CEUs in your related field.)
