| The National Institute of Sports Professionals (NISP) has been established for the express purpose of developing a more organized system of care for athletes at all levels of competition, in all sports, in all areas of the country. By organizing a nationwide association of dedicated, capable, responsive professionals, we are helping athletes, coaches, and parents find effective assistance in helping athletes deal with the greater stress and pressure to win, score, and compete for the huge contracts available to pro athletes today. NISP has certified Professionals pulling together nationwide. We are encouraging the sharing of research, training, experience, and education on a nationwide basis. Treatment, standards, philosophical approaches, and responses to behaviors will become more uniform and thus more effective. Our Professionals include psychology, counseling, medicine, law, and financial planning, and others in our system of care. We are enlisting the support of coaches and athletes who share our concerns and values.
Research indicates that fewer than five out of every thousand professionals will meet our basic criteria! This means that athletes have a very poor chance of finding such a professional, using the yellow pages, or taking pot luck in the general pool of available professionals. It is no wonder that athletes are struggling with their attitudes and behavior today.
Our National Register contains qualified, committed, enthusiastic professionals who are certified and meet our standards and criteria. For the betterment of all sports, all athletes, and all youths who model themselves after famous athletes, NISP is establishing a rational, broad-based, meaningful system of care.
